Inside Scoop - SFgate.com: Chef Jarad Gallagher Hired 06.2009

Hired: An executive chef is also in place for the Lake Chalet Seafood Bar & Grill, the Oakland project from the Beach Chalet and Park Chalet team of Gar and Lara Trupelli. He's Jarad Gallagher, most recently of One Market in San Francisco.

The restaurant, which is going into the 100-year-old Lake Merritt Boat House, was to have opened around Memorial Day, but now is scheduled to open in August.

Gallagher's menu will include appetizers ($6.50-$16.50) such as English pea and ham hock soup, and Dungeness crab cakes. Entrees ($13-$29) will include petrale sole piccata, Liberty Farms duck breast, baby back ribs and a burger.

The venue (1520 Lakeside Drive, near 17th Street), with more than 300 seats inside and 100 outside, with expansive views of the lake and surrounding skyline, will also offer an outdoor lakeside barbecue and brunch on weekends. Lunch and dinner will be served daily.
